ROOK SHOTGUN. Cal. 44 XL Shot. S# 1. Mfg. in Liege, Belgium by Dumoulin Freres & other makers around 1894 under the Stanley Arms Co. Trade name for USA sales. Half oct., half rnd. 24 1/8" barrel with steel bead. Underside of barrel has Belgian gun proofs. Case hardened unique action with side lever for auto-eject breech opening & breech block tail lever for closing. Finely checkered walnut stock set. LOP: 13 5/8" blued curved buttplate. WEIGHT: 3 lbs., 4.5 oz. CONDITION: barrel has fair traces of polished blue around muzzle & side flats with the majority having a gray patina with scattered marks. Action has good amount of case hardening colors with a mix of brown patina in carry areas & breech block surfaces. Triggerguard has good amount of polished blue in protected areas. Wood has good appearance scattered light or deep dings, & grain check crack left side buttstock. Bore shows shine throughout with some sm. spots of scattered light fouling.
